The bloom cycle: one flower, then pups

This is the part that catches new owners off guard: each bromeliad rosette flowers exactly once, and that colorful “flower” you bought it for can last months — but once it fades, the mother rosette has finished its job and will slowly decline over the following months, no matter how well you care for it.
